Chicken 65
Chicken 65 is a popular Indian dish made with deep-fried chicken pieces that are coated in a spicy, savory marinade. Here is a recipe you can try at home:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb boneless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- Salt, to taste
- 2 cups vegetable oil, for frying
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together the yogurt, red chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, cumin powder, ginger garlic paste, and salt.
- Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and coat them evenly with the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate the chicken in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, and water to make a thick batter.
- Dip the marinated chicken pieces in the batter, making sure they are coated evenly.
- Carefully place the battered chicken pieces into the hot oil and fry them until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or your choice of dipping sauce. Enjoy!
